The Pasfield Park Men's Club, hereafter referred to as
"The Club", is a sport based social club dedicated to the sport of
golf and the camaraderie of the participants in the sport. "The Club"
was founded in 1979. The inaugural season's membership consisted of 16 members.
In 2023, "The Club" sported a roster of 54 members.
"The Club" meets every Saturday, beginning
in mid March and running through mid October.
During the course of the year, "The Club"
hosts numerous special events and tournaments. In May, "The Club"
holds a two-man blind draw tournament. This is a regular play tournament in
which two-man teams are determined by a random draw at the conclusion of the
event. In the months of June and August, we hold a two-week stroke play
tournament. This Medal Play tournament is a regular play tournament in which the
participating members compete against all other eligible members in their
respective flights. In July, members may participate in our 6-hole putting
contest. There will also be a multi-week bracketed Match Play tournament in
which players compete head-to-head with players in their respective flights.
In addition to normal weekly play, "The
Club" has weekly "special hole" games.
These games include a weekly Closest to the Pin game and a Longest Putt game. In
the past, we also played a Longest Putt Memorial Game. The majority of the
proceeds were placed in the Memorial Fund. The Memorial Fund moneys were used
for memorials in remembrance of the members of our club who have passed. In the
past, the Memorial Fund paid for several trees to be planted on the golf course
as well as the construction of the rain shelter next to the #6 tee. In 2004, we
purchased the flagpole and memorial stone that stand
in front of the clubhouse. Other items purchased are the scorecard mailbox on hole #2, water cooler enclosures on holes 6 & 8,
barstools used on the patio, and scheduling whiteboards.
Prize money payout, for normal weekly play, is based
on a percentage of the money collected for that week for each of the 4 flights.
All weekly play prize money is deposited into the winning players' accounts at
Pasfield Park Golf Course and can be used for all purchases at any of the four
park district golf courses. Prize payouts are based on a four-flight
handicap system.
The end-of-the-season schedule holds extra
special events. Prior to the end of the year banquet, "The Club"
hosts a 4-man team event and cookout. The week before the end of the year
banquet the league has a play date at Lincoln Greens Golf Course. On the evening
of the last official week of our season, "The Club" holds its
end-of-the-year banquet and business meeting. This is a catered social event,
held at the Lincoln Greens Golf Course Banquet Room, to which members are
invited to bring a guest - for a nominal fee. During the banquet, an end of the
season business meeting will be conducted. During the meeting league officers
for the next year will be elected. There is also a drawing for door prizes that
have been donated by club members, local area businesses and/or purchased with
allocated club funds.
